Elma, WA -
The 3rd race of the 2024 season saw two first time class winners at Grays Harbor Raceway with Zane Minor picking up his first Friesen Performance IMCA Modified victory, and Destry Miller winning his first 360 Sprint Car main event. Also winning main events tonight were Rob Glenn (also his first) in the PHRA Dwarf Cars, and Chase Cooper in the Micro Sprints.
Zane Miner led all 25 laps in the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified main event. He was challenged early by Jeff Hunt, but would take off to a good early lead. The battle in the rest of the top 10 would remain very tight until an early caution would tighten the field up. On the restart Minor again would be able to fend off Hunt, and now Austin Rognlin in 3rd until big contact between a slowing Jeff Westergard and Riley Scherer would bring out another caution. On the next restart the battle for second between Hunt and Rognlin with now Brenton Schnitzer getting into the picture and 6 time track champion Scott Miller who then got up on his side on 2 wheels and saved it and then contact with a 5th place Tyson Blood who stopped before he hit the wall. On what would be the last restart Minor would hold off a late challenge from Schnitzer to pick up the win. Heat races went to Hunt, Minor, Rognlin, and Brian Izzi.
In the 360 Sprint Cars Jeff Dunlap would lead the first 11 laps and then have an issue an slow which would end his night and give the lead to Destry Miller who would hold off Levi Kuntz and Eric Rockl for the win. Fast time went to Dunlap and the heat race win went to Kuntz.
We are also joined by the PHRA Dwarf Cars and Pacific Micro Sprint Association exhibition race. In the Dwarf Cars Rob Glenney would pass early leader Henry Corbiin III and sail off to the win. In the Micro exhibition race Chase Cooper would get the win.
